A. @InfoNarco

The @InfoNarco Twitter account (based on the BlogdelNarco website) is a place where many Mexicans go for information on security and the drug cartels.  Based on the graph below, you can see that there is a spike in activity on March 26, 2012. So I began to look at the various accounts that were tweeting that day to see what event occurred.

According to these followers, there were two major events that occurred that day. The first took place in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, where the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquin Guzman Loera, known as El Chapo, openly challenged the criminal group Los Zetas.  He especially challenged their leaders, Heriberto Lazcano, Miguel Angel Trevino Morales Z 40 and his brother Omar Trevino L 42, after the trip to this border and dismembering several members of his organization. For the second event, a woman, Rosa Aguilar was shot by three bullets in the neck when traveling on board a van with her girlfriend, and the criminals fled after committing the crime

B. @MundoNarco

@MundoNarco is another account (based on the MundoNarco blog) where Mexicans go for information about the drug war. There is a spike in activity on March 23, 2012 because the Ministry of Defense released a statement about  gave a shootout Thursday in Coatepec.
