PGR (Procuraduría General de la República):
Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office carries out investigations and operations to counter organized crime. They have their own police force, the Ministerial Police (en, es): http://www.pgr.gob.mx/

SEDENA (Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional):
The National Defense Secretariat organizes the Mexican Army and Air Force (en, es): http://www.sedena.gob.mx/

SEMAR (Secretaría de Marina):
The Naval Secretariat organizes Mexican naval and marine forces. The Navy has been dispatched to combat issues with insecurity along Mexico’s coast (en, es): http://www.semar.gob.mx/

SSP (Secretaría de Seguridad Pública):
The Public Security Secretariat organizes the Federal Police. Calderón has relied on the Federal Police to carry out operations against organized crime, partly because the Federal Police are often perceived as less corrupt and more professional than state and municipal police (en, es): http://ssp.gob.mx/

Additional security information can be found on state government websites and state-level agencies. State level law enforcement agencies include PGJE (Procuraduría General de Justicia del Estado – State Attorney General’s Office), state police, and municipal police.
